Positive Thinker Steve Pavlina

Positive Thinker Steve Pavlina

This week’s quotes come from the nationally known inspirational speaker and master of psychology  Steve Pavlina (April 14th, 1971 –), has influenced the direction of the power of thought for years.  His blog, books, and seminars have pushed the envelope in exploring and redefining what it means to think, and to think positively.  Steve is the voice of positive thinking for the 21st century onlineHe has written more than 1000 articles and recorded many audio programs on a broad range of self-help topics, including productivity, relationships, and spirituality.  His website, www.stevepavlina.com , ranks as one of the most successful (and influential) in the world.  And he did it all on his own.

It all started for Steve at the age of 19 after spending a night in jail for petty theft, and being expelled from school.  He knew that’s not life he wanted, and he decided then to make changes.  While developing his own sense of positive-thinking, he earned two college degrees in three semesters, in computer science and mathematics.

Since his self-improvement journey began, he sought to share with others all the things he’s learned.  Starting his own Blog, StevePavlina.com, he quickly shared his profound insight in regularly updated posts and articles.  It’s a Blog for those who think.  You won’t just find simple platitudes here.  You’ll find them explored and expounded upon with insight and intelligence.

Steve put all his energy into his site, and it quickly gained popularity and support.  He now brings in 6-figures a month, from his site aloneTalk about trafficAnd it just goes to show you… if you combine proven-marketing strategy with a deep passion, you can find success.  And Steve did.

So check his site out, you won’t be let down.  He truly is one of the best positive-thinkers in the world today.

Now for some Steve Pavlina quotes:

Persistence of action comes from persistence of vision.

So act boldly, as if it’s impossible to fail. If you keep adding fuel to your desire, you will reach the point of knowing that you’ll never quit, and ultimate success will be nothing more than a matter of time.

Courage is the dividing line between weakness and strength of character.

Courage is the gateway in the sense that you must first learn to face down your fears, even as they still appear real to you.

One of my core beliefs is that belief itself is a choice that can be made of our own free will.

The more disciplined you become, the easier life gets.

Willpower is a concentration of force. You gather up all your energy and make a massive thrust forward.

Our beliefs act as lenses. These lenses can help us see things we can’t otherwise see, but they can also block us from seeing parts of reality.

Passion and purpose go hand in hand. When you discover your purpose, you will normally find it’s something you’re tremendously passionate about.

By courage I mean the ability to face down those imaginary fears and reclaim the far more powerful life that you’ve denied yourself.

True courage is more a matter of intellect than of feeling.

Courageous people are still afraid, but they don’t let the fear paralyze them.

Some good quotes that really make you thinkStevePavlina.com is definitely worth a visit.  It’s easy to navigate around, and he touches on so many topics you’ll be sure to find something helpful and useful.

It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through.
-Zig Ziglar

It’s not what you’ve got, it’s what you use that makes a difference.

Tony Robbins

Tony Robbins

This week’s quotes come from the inspirational speaker and corporate motivator Tony Robbins (February 29th, 1960 –), creator of such books and courses as: Unlimited Power: The New Science Of Personal Achievement and Awaken The Giant Within.  I’m sure that most of you have heard of him, as he’s been a part of popular culture in America for almost 3 decades from best selling conferences, celebrity supporters, and pushing the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP.).  His positive-thinking philosophies have impacted thousands of lives and revitalized companies of all kinds.  He’s truly a phenomenon that stands out in today’s world of gurus and speakers.  Using a mixture of science, common-sense, life-experience, and un-shakeable belief in each person, he’s truly made his mark.

Now for some Tony Robbins quotes:

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.
- Tony Robbins

It is not what we get. But who we become, what we contribute… that gives meaning to our lives.
- Tony Robbins

It not knowing what to do, it’s doing what you know.
- Tony Robbins

It’s not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean.
- Tony Robbins

Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.
- Tony Robbins

Live with passion!
- Tony Robbins

I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people who live what they teach, who walk their talk.
- Tony Robbins

I’ve come to believe that all my past failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of living I now enjoy.
- Tony Robbins

If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
- Tony Robbins

If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.
- Tony Robbins

My definition of success is to live your life in a way that causes you to feel a ton of pleasure and very little pain – and because of your lifestyle, have the people around you feel a lot more pleasure than they do pain.
- Tony Robbins

Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year – and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade!
- Tony Robbins

One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.
- Tony Robbins

These are some pretty powerful words honestly.  Not to sound too biased, but really let Tony’s words sink in.  Sometimes we read positive quotes quickly and smile and then immediately forget about them.  Other times we may roll our eyes at some quotes.  But these quotes are strong.  If we could all take just a couple of the quotes to heart, we could see a lot of changes in our lives.  If you have the time, get a book or two of his, definitely worth a read.

Roman Writer and Politician Cicero

Roman Writer and Politician Cicero

This week’s quotes come from Roman Politician Cicero. You have probably heard the name before, if not details of this amazing man’s life.  Or you may know his name from the Shakespeare play Julius Caesar, or the story of Caesar in general.  You may know his name for a street or school in your town.  Cicero’s legacy is among the greatest and most enduring of all time.

Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC) was born in the Roman Republic which stretched from Spain to the modern day Israel, including Ancient Greece, parts of Turkey, Egypt and most of the Northern African coast.  In his adult life he became renowned for his speaking skill, his lawyer career and skill at interpreting the law, his term as Consul (or Head of State), and his philosophical writings.  He is also known for being involved (on both sides) in the famous transition of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire, sparked by Julius Caesar’s history-changing crossing of the River Rubicon to take control of Rome.  Cicero stood for Republic values and traditions and freedom and was one of many tutors of Octavian (Augustus), Caesar’s heir and the first Emperor of Rome.   Cicero eventually lost his life standing for his principles and his life and teachings still impact people today.  He lived in a time of Caesar, Augustus, Mark Antony, Brutus, Cassius, Pompey, and Cleopatra.  Even Jesus was born within years of Cicero’s life.  And Cicero’s legacy continues to this day just as strong as his contemporaries, if not stronger than most.

Ancient Rome - Similiar to today in many ways

Ancient Rome - Similiar to today in many ways

Cicero’s writings on philosophy, law, government, ethics, and positive thinking have lasted for over 2,000 years and are a big part of the United States of America.  The Founding Fathers nearly unanimously shared Cicero as an important inspiration for the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.   His writings on Natural Law and the Rights of Man were integral to the founding of America.   His teachings can be seen and felt in many countries around the world over the last few centuries.  The concept of man being ‘endowed with natural inalienable rights’ is a personification of Cicero’s thinking, and much of thinking of Pre-Empire Rome.  To quote John Adams, “As all the ages of the world have not produced a greater statesman and philosopher united than Cicero, his authority should have great weight.

For the man who coined the phrase “Swan Song”, Cicero’s Swan Song is his impact on Modern society.  He reminds us that we can do something special with our lives and leave our own legacies, no matter our station in life.  He should know: he rose from near obscurity to the top tiers of power in Rome.

US Declaration of Independence- partially inspired by Cicero's works

Cicero is also a wealth of practical inspiration and positive thinking.

Now for some Cicero quotes:

What one has, one ought to use; and whatever he does, he should do with all his might.
Cicero

A home without books is a body without soul.
Cicero

Confidence is that feeling by which the mind embarks in great and honorable courses with a sure hope and trust in itself.
Cicero

A happy life consists in tranquility of mind.
Cicero

A life of peace, purity, and refinement leads to a calm and untroubled old age.
Cicero

A mind without instruction can no more bear fruit than can a field, however fertile, without cultivation.
Cicero

Advice is judged by results, not by intentions.
Cicero

Live as brave men; and if fortune is adverse, front its blows with brave hearts.
Cicero

If only every man would make proper use of his strength and do his utmost, he need never regret his limited ability.
Cicero

As I approve of a youth that has something of the old man in him, so I am no less pleased with an old man that has something of the youth. He that follows this rule may be old in body, but can never be so in mind.
Cicero

Ability without honor is useless.
Cicero

Some very wise words from so long ago. Cicero’s words still ring true.  And his life and writings are definitely worth further reading.

Hello,

Do you want to be a successful Internet Marketer? Do you want to work at home and earn lots of money? Probably one of the most important things you can do is to know yourself—your strengths and your weaknesses. Learn to appreciate your strengths and overcome your weaknesses. This will help you to be more successful in all areas of your life.

Do you remember when I told you that I am a Beaver ? I knew nothing of Personality Tests until about nine years ago. When beginning a new job, I was asked to take this test and was told I am a Beaver. What in the world did that mean? As I studied the characteristics of the different personality types, I learned about Lions, Otters, Beavers and Golden Retrievers. Sounds silly, doesn’t it?

Are you a Lion? You are very fast paced and goal oriented….you are direct…you want to lead….you love challenges…you are a problem solver….you like authority and are bold. You are a natural born leader!! You will boldly and courageously go into your business!

Lions, be careful because in the process of taking authority and leading, you might dominate a situation when you should allow others to contribute. Remember to be sympathetic to those around you. Consider others (your customers) –work with them at their level, which might not be the fast paced, take charge tendency of the Lion.

Beavers of the world, what are your strengths? You are very organized…you are a perfectionist….you are detailed…you are conscientious….if you are doing a task, you will do it right no matter how long it takes. Don’t you wish everyone was a Beaver? :-)

As perfect as Beavers seem to be, we do have weaknesses. We can delay too long in getting a project started because we don’t have all the answers…we haven’t figured out the whole process from beginning to end. Sometimes we never get started or are slow to start because things are not perfect. We can be hard to please (because others won’t necessarily do things the way we ‘know’ they should be done). We can be critical.

What about those Otters? You are very fast paced. You jump onto new ideas and concepts and are ready to go with them without a lot of planning—which drives us Beavers crazy. I am speaking from experience since my husband and daughter are very radical Otters (gotta love them!). Otters are very good around people and often are in up-front situations.

Otters, beware! You might overlook essential details and be ready to start a project way before you are ready. You can be somewhat disorganized. Learn to be a little more organized in your approach to business – even plan ahead.

Golden Retrievers, you are our best friends. You are always there for us. You are very people oriented and totally loyal. You are our peace makers. Every office needs to have at least one Golden Retriever.

Your weaknesses—how can anyone so loyal and loving have weaknesses? It’s true though-you do! Golden Retrievers are usually slower paced in their work and have a harder time making decisions (you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings). You tend to not be as motivated if working alone.

Think about some scenarios. An otter working with a beaver—the otter is ready to spring ahead to the next step while the beaver is slowly, methodically working his way through all the possibilities, problems and complications. How about a Lion and Golden Retriever? The Lion is moving ahead with the speed of lightening while the Golden Retriever is making sure everyone is happy and no one’s feelings are hurt. The Lion just moves too swiftly for the Golden Retriever!

Don’t just read this article and forget it. Honestly, you will learn something about yourself and others around you. You might understand others’ work habits and communication skills better. Considering all of this—and developing yourself to your fullest potential—can be invaluable in your business, in dealing with your customers, your family, friends…… Be aware of the best qualities of each personality type and develop them within yourself. Be the best that you can be!

Linda Smith, Blogger, Support

p.s. Do you want to take your own personality test? You can ‘google’ and find many of them—some use other ‘tags’ rather than the animals, but the concepts are similar. One I found is at http://highridgelife.com/files/Pictures/personality%20test.pdf. Try to honestly evaluate yourself as you take the test. You will probably find that you have some of every personality type with one being dominant

Hi,

I see many people aimlessly wandering through life with no thoughts of goals or plans to make any goals come true. You know people like that too, don’t you? The most they can hope for is to get through the week…or the day.

I would encourage you to make a list of goals in your life. You can put anything on your list that you really want. I have seen many people’s lists that had things like boats, big houses, fancy cars and diamond rings. There is absolutely nothing wrong in wishing for these material things, but I encourage you to search more deeply for what you really want in your life.

All the ‘things’ that money can buy won’t make you happy unless other situations in your life are ‘right’. Let me mention just a couple.

YOUR HEALTH: There may be health problems in your life that are beyond your control, but often we can take steps to be more healthy. How about eating healthy foods….exercising more….drinking more water? How about eliminating or cutting down on the things we know are not good for us?

RELATIONSHIPS: Make it a goal to develop more positive relationships. This means developing good , strong, positive relationships with family, friends and co-workers.

Think about it. What would be the most important things in your life? What would really make you happy? When I make my list of goals, the ‘things’ money can buy are not my top priorities. What are yours?

Hey everyone,

Here is my next installment for the weekly Positive Thinking quotes.   Often in life we can get a little down and sometimes even a simple quote can inspire us to push through to the next day.  So while this might not be a life changing Blog post, it may give you a smile, or a burst of momentum on a slow day.

This week’s quotes come from Minister Robert Schuller. You may have heard of Robert Schuller (b. Sept 16th, 1926) before, internationally renowned minister of the Crystal Cathedral, in California.  Mentored by Norman Vincent Peale (see our blog post on Peale), Robert is famous for his Hour of Power television show, and for speaking around the world on Faith and Positive Thinking.  His famous writings/speakings include Move Ahead With Possibility Thinking and You Can Be The Person You Want To Be.

Robert Schuller is considered by some to be an expert in motivational speaking and positive thinking.  He reminds us there is more to life than what we think, and that we should live exciting lives, full of possibilities and positivity.

Now for some Robert Schuller quotes:

If you listen to your fears, you will die never knowing what a great person you might have been.
Robert H. Schuller

It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.

Robert H. Schuller

It takes but one positive thought when given a chance to survive and thrive to overpower an entire army of negative thoughts.
Robert H. Schuller

I’d rather attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed.
Robert H. Schuller

If there exists no possibility of failure, then victory is meaningless.
Robert H. Schuller

Failure doesn’t mean you are a failure it just means you haven’t succeeded yet.
Robert H. Schuller

Again and again, the impossible problem is solved when we see that the problem is only a tough decision waiting to be made.
Robert H. Schuller

Always look at what you have left. Never look at what you have lost.

Robert H. Schuller

Goals are not only absolutely necessary to motivate us. They are essential to really keep us alive.
Robert H. Schuller

Goals must never be from your ego, but problems that cry for a solution.
Robert H. Schuller

High achievers spot rich opportunities swiftly, make big decisions quickly and move into action immediately. Follow these principles and you can make your dreams come true.
Robert H. Schuller

These Robert Schuller quotes are phenomenal!  They really are.  Each one is powerful and can create change in our lives.  You should seriously write down a half dozen of them that really spoke to you or impressed you, and post them places you will read them each day. Places like- on your computer, bulletin board, office desk, refrigerator, bathroom mirror, even a piece of paper to put in your wallet or your purse.

Even a tiny little quote can create an avalanche of accomplishment.

To success and positive thoughts, a great weekend and week,

Hello,

It’s now 09/11/2009Eight years since the world stopped turning on that tragic day in America.

American Flag Flying High.

American Flag Flying High.

We all know the story.  The sadness and loss in New York City, Washington DC and the Pennsylvania Countryside.

But there is more about that day than that.  It’s about Hope, Perseverance, Faith, and the best things that life is made up of.

09/11/01 – Tragedy.  Hope.  Perseverance.

09/11/09 -  We remember.  And we still have hope and perseverance.

Just as much as we remember the loss on that day, we also remember the hope.  We remember those men and women who rushed into danger and possible death just to help another person live. They risked their own lives for complete strangers.  They are heroes.  We remember those who passed away on that day, and honor them.

The Fire Deparment of New York. Heroes.

The Fire Deparment of New York. Heroes.

We sometimes only remember the mind-boggling loss of September 11th, 2001But we should also remember the mind-boggling good of that day too.

Whether it was the FDNY (fire department of new york), or the NYPD ( new york police department), or the NYPA (new york port authority), people rushed into the danger of burning and collapsing buildings just to save other peoples’ lives.

And ordinary every-day citizens of New York City also rushed into danger, or in some cases back into danger, to help save the lives of people they didn’t even know.

We persevere, remember and honor.

We will never forget that day, and our hope lives on.

We will never forget.

We will never forget.

That hope and strength galvanized us as a nation, and made us appreciate our every-day lives even more.

This blog post today isn’t about business, or anything else really.
It’s about remembering that day…

… And remembering that we, too, can make a difference every day in our lives.

We can help a total stranger.  We can smile and wave.  We can do the things we always put off.  We can help those in need.  We can do more, do better, do for ourselves and for others.  We can remember our hopes and dreams.  We can do the things in life we truly want to do.

Being a hero is just a title we give people. Some deserve it though.  Those who helped and passed on 09/11… Soldiers in WWII… doctors, nurses, nuns, ministers, volunteers, and on and on.  But you and I can do heroic things too.  We can help others.  We can do for others.  We can live our dreams.

So as we remember those who passed and those who helped on that September day in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania… we can also remember that we too can help others.  That we too can have hope and perseverance.  That we too can live our dreams.

To the memory and honor of those who passed away, and those who heroically helped others, on 09/11/01.

I SAW A SHARK TODAY!!!!

Being blessed as I am to live in an area near salt water I try to partake of sunshine and sandy beaches when I can. I was at the beach a few days ago when out of the corner of my eye I saw a gray dorsal fin erupt from the water. It was like something out of JAWS. I was glad that I wasn’t in the water yet but wandered down to the beach to get a closer look.

There I saw a sand shark. It was too small to do any damage to a human. But it was swimming along actively hunting the beach for food. I followed it down the beach (staying on land of course) and watching it hunt. It was utterly fascinating.

As I was walking back up the beach I noticed more dorsal fins out just beyond the swim buoys. These one were much larger and much more frightening. I couldn’t see what they were attached to but whatever it was it was much bigger then the little sand shark I had been following.

I watched the fins cut the through the water for awhile. There were three of them. It seemed like they were hunting. There was thrashing about and strange motions in the water.

Needless to say I stayed out of the water that day and just watched all the activity from the beach.

I returned to the beach several times over the course of the week. Each time I was on the look out for more rogue dorsal fins. But I didn’t see anything.

Finally I summoned my courage and went back in the water. It was a beautiful day. The water was crystal clear and I was having a fantastic time swimming around.

And just then nearly right in front of me I saw another dorsal fin erupt out of the water and then quickly disappear again just as fast. This time the fin was much closer; no longer out beyond the swim buoys. I quickly turned to make my way back to the beach and tried to get the attention of the group of people next to me.

Did they see it??? Weren’t they scared to???

The people turned to me and pointed out to the swim buoys again.

Look!!! They’re dolphins!

I turned and saw that they were right. Three bottle-nosed dolphins playing together and actively hunting the water. I spent all week afraid of Flipper.

Sounds kind of silly, huh…

I was recently recounting this story to one of Max Pro’s fearless leaders Mr. Mike Antoni. He laughed and told me that that’s always the way that it is. That people are afraid of the harmless things in life.

He was telling me how often the things that we are most frightened of doing and accomplishing can often turn into wonderful opportunities for us. For example, someone who’s afraid to cold call might find that there strength secretly lies in an ability to relate to people. Someone who is afraid of public speaking might find that their talent lies in communication. And someone that’s afraid to start their own business might find that their talent lies in being an entrepreneur, paving their own way and working for themselves.

Spend a little time today thinking about you’re most afraid of and how that fear might be stopping you from unlocking a hidden talent or potential.

This week’s quotes come from Founding Father Benjamin Franklin.  We all know about him as a person of influence in the founding of this country and the cause of Independence and Liberty.  We know about his writings, travels, and inventions.  But did you know he was found of wisdom too?  He often wrote of positive thought and wisdom.  And he would often share this thoughts with others, whether they wanted to hear them or not! :D   He even including sayings and common sense wisdom as a part of his Poor Richard’s Almanack.

We can all take a page out of his book by being all that we can be.  If we believe in ourselves, our potential and our dreams, we can accomplish so much.  Whether you think your dream is large or small, go for it.  Live a diverse life and never give up or give in.  And we can truly make a difference in others’ lives as well.   Benjamin Franklin is a good role model for us.

Now unto some good Franklin quotes!

You may delay, but time will not.
