Do you have weeds in your garden? Get rid of them
now before they choke out your plants and cause them
to die! Be vigilant in pulling out every weed and
remember that not all weeds are ugly. Some may even
have flowers, but they will not bring nourishment
to your garden.
Are you pulling out the weeds that are trying to take
over your garden – you goals and dreams? I have started
a list of things that can hamper or destroy the wonder-
ful things that God wants for your life. Add to this
list and quickly banish those pesky weeds.
1. Fear of failure
2. Disbelief - That could not really happen to me!
3. Negative comments of friends and family
4. Overwhelming problems that distract you from your
goals.
5. Apathy
Tend your garden daily and you will reap a rich reward!
Each of us has our own unique skills, talents and strengths, yet I wonder how often we downplay our own abilities and wish we could be like_______________(you fill in the blank). As confident as we might look on the outside, we feel inferior inside. It’s so easy to recognize the strengths of those around us while we focus on our own (perceived) weaknesses.
I was once in a meeting led by several individuals. One person was rather aggressive in her approach…another had years of experience in this field….another didn’t have much experience but was full of energy and enthusiasm….one man was rather shy but completely sincere in his approach. What a wonderful combination! Because of the varied abilities and strengths, that meeting was a complete success and each person in the audience could certainly identify with some of the qualities represented that day.
I challenge you to take time …maybe even write down a list of your own strengths. We are each unique beings created for a wonderful purpose. Be thankful for the person you are. Will you realize and utilize your potential, or will you only focus on those traits you see as negative?
We have all heard the phrase “God isn’t finished with me”. If there are abilities and skills you want to develop in your life, you can do it! Remember to be positive in your thoughts, words and your actions. Always be thankful for your blessings and celebrate you!!
Summertime in Florida means lots of rain. I love the rain. I discovered as a child, that Larry would not melt and I could play in the rain. Today at age 62, I can still play in the rain with as much delight as I did back in my childhood. However, you and I can use some spiritual showers as well.
Back about 20 years ago there was a southern gospel chorus entitled, “Send Down The Rain Lord,” that became very popular in our local congregation. From that time point up to today’s major summer downpour, I am reminded that we need the showers of God’s blessings to come down upon us too. In fact, that chorus reminds us that we need the showers, “the former and latter rains ” to come together. We do need the rain of seed time (former rain), showers of blessings that come when we plant or begin our marketing ventures, as well as the harvest time (latter rain) showers. Let them both come and in abundance, as we need the rain! May you be blessed!
